How Gratitude Helps You Succeed

I am participating in a 21 day meditation by Oprah and Deepak Chopra called “Manifesting Grace through Gratitude.”

Everyday for 21 days I’m sent a new topic, based on the theme. Oprah explains the specific topic and then Deepak leads you in a meditation to deepen the concept. The topics have included: “Gratitude Benefits Mind and Body.”, “Gratitude Expands Every Relationship.”, “Succeeding Through Gratitude

This series reminds me of the importance of gratitude to all areas of our life.

There are so many benefits of gratitude that you are likely familiar with - Emotional. Social. Personal. Health.

But the thing that surprised me is the benefit gratitude can have on your career.

According to the folks at HappierHuman.com...

“Gratitude...
☺ makes you a more effective manager
☺ helps you network
☺ increases your decision-making capabilities
☺ increases your productivity
☺ and helps you get mentors and protégés.

As a result, gratitude helps you achieve your career goals, as well as making your workplace a more friendly and enjoyable place to be.”

WOW! Who knew?

Given all the amazing ways that gratitude can help boost your career, are you ready to learn some ways to increase your gratitude?

Vibrant Living Tip

Gratitude journal. Every night before you go to sleep, write 5 things you are grateful for. If you can find 5 different things each night, all the better.

Gratitude walk. Take a walk and notice things around you. Colorful flowers. Birds singing. The smell of freshly cut grass.

Visit someone you love. Or write a letter. Express why you are grateful for him or her.

Pet an animal. Pets can lift our spirits. I remember many days coming home and seeing my cat waiting for me at the door. How could you not feel gratitude seeing that?

Create a collage. For those of us more visual, take a picture of one thing you are grateful for each day. Look at the pictures each day as you add to it.

Vibrant Living Take Away

Choose just one of the gratitude exercises above and practice it each day this week. As you do, notice how it is impacting how you show up at work. Who knows, gratitude may just be the secret to your next big promotion 🙂

Until next time... Live Vibrantly!
