Calm Confidence

Why is it important to be calm? Reduce stress.

Can being calm increase your confidence?

These are the questions I started out with for this week’s blog.

As I was doing research, I came across this great article on Huffington Post called “7 Things Calm People Do Differently”

Some of these things we’ve have talked about before.

Being grateful.

Meditating.

Having people who support you. Partners in believing.

The remaining ones may surprise you.

This one will most likely be a relief to you – they don’t have it together all the time. It’s not the stress. It’s what you do with it. Calm people find healthy ways to manage their energy. They’ve developed ways to recognize and then reduce stress. How do you handle stress?

These next 3 may be a bit harder for some of you.

Sleep. 7-8 hours of sleep a night is recommended. As part of Brendon Burchard’s 5X50 Productivity tool, he recommends going to bed 50 minutes earlier. Even taking naps, as long as they are short, can help. Do you get 7-8 hours of sleep?

Take vacation days. Take time off. Recharge. Relax on the beach. One of my mentors recommends taking a day off after going to a conference. Spend time to absorb what you learned. You can also do this at the end of a big project. Do you take vacation days often enough?

Unplug. Does the thought of this cause the heebee jeebees? If so, all the more reason to unplug at times. I have a strict rule – no texting during a meal. Turn off your notifications. Connect and really enjoy the people you are with. Are you willing to unplug?

I invite you to find a little calm. I believe it even increases confidence.

Vibrant Living Tip

The next time you feel a bit of stress, pause. Examine what’s going on. Look at some areas of your life. Which of the habits I mentioned above can help you move to a place of calm. Select one and do it. Take that step to move to a place of calm. See what happens to your confidence.
