Retired? Me?

It’s the beginning of a new decade. Time to start the visioning process anew.

I like to create a vision that includes various time periods.

This time I did 3, 5 and 10 year visions.

My 10 year vision just said one word - RETIRED!

My immediate reaction - “Huh, I wonder what that means???”

It reminded me of something my father said after he retired. He said he didn’t know how he had had time to work. His days were so full. He even started teaching sailing after he retired.

Talking with a friend of mine, she said… “I don’t want to end up like my dad. He spends at least 3 hours a day playing solitaire. The rest of his waking hours he watches TV.”

Quite a difference between the two retirements.

Vibrant Living Tip

Have you thought about what retirement will look like for you? How will you spend your days?

The truth is we each have a choice of how we will spend our retirement years.

Would retirement be more like my father’s? Or more like my friend’s dad?

Most likely we will be somewhere between these two.

There are 78 million baby boomers. And every 13 minutes, 100 of us in the US turn 60 years old. Studies show that the average length of retirement is 18 years.

How will those years be spent?

The best way to predict your retirement years is to start living your best life now. That way retirement will be more of what you already love doing.

Not quite sure what you love or what your best life looks like?

The answer is right inside you.

That desire for something more… more joy, more vibrancy, more aliveness, more fulfillment.

That desire is LIFE itself seeking expression through you.

What would you love?

Spend some time with this. Be curious. Have fun. Be more like my dad!
