Do You Have Change For A Paradigm?

To review, last week we talked about the 3 keys to getting unstuck. Key #1 is Vision. Without a vision the people will perish. You have to have a Clear picture of what you want. It has to contain Purpose, your purpose. And you want to include Adventure/Fun. The universe loves fun and adventure. Make it part of your vision.

This week we will look at Key #2 Habits. Specifically, thought habits, paradigms. Recognize your thought habits. Disrupt them. Disarm them. And Reframe those that no longer support us. So we can move forward and create lasting change.

Paradigms are a multitude of habits passed down from generation to generation. They control the way you view yourself, the world and opportunity.

How does this affect our life?

Paradigms control how you approach change and challenges. They operate exactly the same as the autopilot on a plane. Paradigm is that part of the mind that determines how you behave.

They are so insidious, you don’t even know it’s happening.

Paradigms can keep you in a place you really don’t want to be and run you.

Did you ever wonder why you…

  • keep your new year's resolutions for only a month or 2.
  • go to the gym. It feels so good and you vow to go again tomorrow. Tomorrow, you hit snooze.
  • buy fresh vegetables and fruit. You eat them for 2 days. They rot in the fridge.

How do change that?

Stop. Disrupt. Replace.

Many people are good at the Stop and Replace steps. They start their new year's resolutions. They go to the gym. They eat healthy. Name a few of your own…

They skip the Disrupt step. This is where the transformation happens. This is where lasting change happens. Why do people skip this step? It creates discomfort for the paradigm. It’s uncomfortable for you.

There are 2 ways to change a paradigm that is no longer serving you. Both involve Disruption.

  1. External disruption. Something happens to you that creates a strong emotional impact. A diagnosis. A death. You lose your job. Your relationship ends.
  2. Internal disruption. Repetition of a new way of being, thinking, and doing.
